How is anxiety treated with hypnosis?
At Center Point Medicine, Dr. Anbar and the other providers offer hypnosis and counseling sessions to help you learn to control your thoughts and behaviors and to calm yourself.
Hypnosis can be helpful in resolving anxiety. Your provider uses guided relaxation techniques to put you in a trancelike state of calmness and concentration in which you’re more open to positive suggestions and ideas.
While you’re using hypnosis, you can respond to questions from your provider to reveal the issues and experiences that lead to the development of your anxiety. This information can guide your counseling and form the foundation of therapies to help you learn to recognize anxious thoughts and respond to them in more healthy ways.
The practice of hypnosis can also teach you techniques to self-soothe and calm yourself when your symptoms spike. You can practice these relaxation techniques at home as part of your self-care.
